Twitter use explodes, hits 50 million tweets per day

Recent reports saying Twitter's popularity is declining might not be very accurate. Users of the micro-blogging social network are posting more messages than ever—as many as 50 million 140 character-long messages every day, the company on Monday announced in a blog post.

Report: Tablets to sell big in 2010

Study: Google Nexus One's first week of sales were weak

Big hype didn’t equal big sales for Google’s Nexus One. Only 20,000 Google Nexus One phones were sold in its first week of sales, according to sales estimates from market research firm Flurry. By way of comparison, the NexusOne’s numbers are 12 times lower than for the Motorola Droid and 80 times lower than for the iPhone 3GS.

Wikipedia colour-codes for credibility

In a bid to become a more trustworthy source, Wikipedia will use color codes to indicate the reliability of an article's author. Called “WikiTrust,” the optional feature will assign a colour code to newly-edited text, based on the author’s reputation.

Apple’s upcoming operating system, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, could arrive earlier than the expected September launch date. Multiple sources are reporting that Snow Leopard has now been designated “Gold Master” status, which means the OS is ready to ship to users.

DVD-ripping court case begins: it's RealNetworks vs. Hollywood

RealNetworks and Hollywood studios are squaring off in a U.S. District Court in San Francisco where Judge Marilyn Hall Patel will determine if the program RealDVD violates laws created to prevent the copying of DVDs that use digital-rights-management technology. RealDVD is a $US30 ($A40) software program that allowed you to copy DVDs onto your computer. Last year a judge halted the sale of the program.

Report: Twitter overtakes Digg in popularity

Putting your thoughts in 140 characters and sharing them with the world is shaping up to be more popular than "digging" your favorite news. According to new market share numbers from Hitwise, Twitter, the popular microblogging service, is now more popular than Digg's social news aggregation service. Hitwise compared both sites in a report released this week and is basing the market share ranking by page views.
